The Making Of [Episode #256]
Production notes for The Making of Episode #256 of Jack and Dylon's Daily Video Podcast. Listening to Crimson King - In the court of King Crimson on beat-up noise-cancelling headphones while preparing today's content and pondering the adventures of other mad professors such as Dr. Rusty Venture. Editing went smoother than expected especially compared to the all-day build required for this past Sunday’s Episode #253. Encountering an audio glitch, which is definitely not syncing as smoothly as what’s being presented during editing. Going to try audio splitting and re-rendering before uploading and getting on with day digitally illustrating the final two pages of our Manitoulin Colouring Book. Then it's uploading and social media broadcasting this evening!

Making Funny Faces [Episode #246]
Hi, It's Dylon Whyte, co-host, creator and technical director of Jack and Dylon's Daily Video Podcast. It's been a very busy week at Whytes HQ as we reached our end of March deadline with at least another couple of weeks of preparing remaining before submitting our 2017 Manitoulin Colouring Book for it's first print test. Not to mention attempting to document our creation process with our videos, like today's episode #246 entitled "Making Funny Faces" which basically distills my last 4 days of illustration into a jaunty 2 minute music video. I haven't felt much progress in the process, but yesterday Jack Whyte explained that what he was teaching me was about more than any imparting any specific technique, such as drawing illustrations for colouring and more about imparting a thought process regarding creation itself. He said (and I'm paraphrasing at the end of a very long day waiting for the hydro to resume before even beginning today's editing/distillation process) "Simply knowing when to walk away from a work of art is more valuable than any other artistic skill I could teach you." Which I find myself appreciating as today's episode is rendering and I find myself thinking about the digital editing process in terms of what was once the physical trimming and gluing film stock. Plus! More in-the-wild footage of an authentic artist in their natural environment!

Timbering and Rock Picking [Episode #242]
Bright, cool morning. Sue and Ashley enjoyed lunch together yesterday as Sue’s new Fuji finally arrived! Finished tough timbering and rock picking page for Manitoulin colouring book yesterday as well. Then edited down first day of work on page into today’s episode #242 of Jack and Dylon's Daily Video Podcast. Plus! Watch closely for rare footage of an actual artist in the wild. Apparently Jack Whyte has been working on a new self-portrait in the form of an assemblage collage and can’t find certain items that we photographed for his auto-biographical Scrapbook: a story of art including a shoe horn, slide rule and miniature wooden bowling pins.

Somebody Farted [Episode #232]
Our best live episode to date! Due to my own unusual education it's funny that this episode of Jack and Dylon's Daily Video Podcast was recorded in the one room of my father’s home where the majority of my autodidactic or self-taught learning/education has come from.

One-Room School Highlights [Episode #229]
As if learning how to draw from scratch wasn’t challenging enough, we’ve also set out to document the creative process with our daily video podcasts. It’s definitely not easy juggling a camera and microphone around my workstation and drawing tablet. But after distilling about 12 minutes of yesterday’s footage into the highlights of today’s minute long project update, I think the final documentation is well worth any temporary inconvenience.

Jack and Dylon's Daily Video Podcast [The Shorter Film]
Is it an ad, is it educational, is it entertaining?
This film challenges all convention by introducing two characters the likes of which you have never met before.
Such as, is it inconceivable to conclude a creative commons share-a-like film with a direct link supporting creators as opposed to a tangle of legalities?

Geek Gamer Author [Episode #223]
It has been 223 hard-fought episodes and I'm finally feeling that my editing ability has grown appreciably along with our modest daily podcast. A process that has been much like learning to juggle from scratch to finally reaching the point where you're confident juggling live pythons. At least in terms of controlling the trajectory of static objects as opposed to the complications of editing this living POV video. Anyhow, the other day Dad surprised me with a truly unique work of art based on my various exploits created from bits and pieces of junk that I had been unwittingly supplying. What I love about this art is that creates something beautiful and though provoking out of essentially nothing. Or as I've heard Jack Whyte say, "Give the garbage to the artists." And I'm inclined to agree. According to the Artist, more than an homage, mirage or mere mirror image this type of assemblage collage is capable of capturing viewers souls. Reputably the artist himself remains immune to this effect.
I don't know if this episode really captures the meaningfulness of this story to us. Dad says that he's been creating assemblages for as long as he can remember, our video making goes back to the early 1980's and his interest in time art predates the 60's. So the depth of good memories is immense for us both just documenting this artistic experience of otherwise worthless and unrelated objects via modern independent film-making.

Greeting On Your Birthday [Episode #194]
It’s been almost a month since we encapsulated our initial 169 podcasts with the launch of Enjoying Postcards THE MOVIE. Since then we've grown through a lot of changes as the story evolved into Jack and Dylon's Daily Video Podcast. Including an upgraded stereo microphone for our GoPro and a fresh, more dynamic graphic style. What do you think of our upgrades as we return to #postcards the topic that got our ball rolling in the first place? What subjects should we cover next?

The Story Thus Far [Episode #193]
Hot off the presses! We literally just finished compiling, editing and uploading today's special extra-long episode of Jack and Dylon's Daily Video Podcast! Unfortunately, due to our tight schedule, we have some good news and some bad news regarding today's episode. The bad news is that we had to leave out some material. Specifically a lost image of a Jack Whyte acrylic painting entitled "Mommy, the Birds Are Back." Which we just couldn't locate this morning for the life of us. The good news? While we were hunting for our AWOL painting we found three bonus images that did get included with today's podcast PLUS! The best news of all!? Coming tomorrow.. duh Duh DUH! The thing we know you’ve all been waiting for… POSTCARDS!

Jack & Dylon's Daily Video Podcast [Episode #190] Thank You
The story thus far: on Canada Day 2016 artist Jack Whyte, along with his son Dylon, launch Art and Stories of the 20th Century Postcard - an innovative interactive living art experiment on Facebook.
To promote this project they also created 169 episodes of the "Enjoying Postcards" podcast/vidcast which has been broadcasting daily on our social media networks since September of 2016.
On January 17th, 2017 "Enjoying Postcards" evolved into "Postcards and $hit!" allowing hosts Jack and Dylon Whyte a greater diversity of shit to talk about. Along with this evolution came this, their brand new Facebook fan page.
However, on February 4th, 2017, they decided to rechristen as "Jack and Dylon's Daily Video Podcast" in order to simplify.
Thanks for watching, liking, following, sharing, subscribing and contributing - we really couldn't do it without you!
